Barbara Segal And Associates journey to now, is based on the fact that Barbara is an Aquarian. Zodiac Facts are that Aquarians are always ten miles ahead of everyone else in their thinking. In 2010, everyone including Chris, Mat, Tom, Dick, and Sally is a Social Media Expert and a Blogger. Quite frankly, the whole change has turned Barbara Segal off. That's right, off. Twitter is filled with Social Media Speakers, Coaches, Consultants, and Experts which is clearly a kind of smart way to say, I am out of a job.

When Barbara traveled to Chicago to work with her former Design Client, on a new Multi Million Dollar High Rise Apartment. The project set the passion, in motion of Interior Design, Barbara's Showroom knowledge, Vendor Relations, and the reputation Barbara has. While attending NeoCon, Barbara found it to be what future Trade Shows will be. A fun interactive Social Media Show, experience. The registration of the Show, allowed you to sign in with Twitter and tweet a list of Manufacturers and their products in your show planner. There was an incredible Manufacturer tweet up at Kohler. And vloggs were also cutting edge for Manufacturers on the NeoCon page.

Between the Inspiration of NeoCon and meeting with so many Manufacturer, Vendor and Client relations. Barbara had an Epiphany when on her regular favorite Twitter Chat: #BlogChat and than again when she was on #BrandChat. In June, Barbara Segal started #IntDesignerChat a weekly chat about Interior Design. Open to any one in the Interior Design, Interior Architect and Furniture Industry. As usual Barbara had nay Sayers against her. However it was an AH HA moment for Barbara and she persevered on. As the successful owner of Barbara Segal & Associates and Noir Blanc Interiors, she has learned to follow her heart. The Chat has grown and received Press in Furniture Today. Life is good.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-230886383850414476.post-80931135871320722202010-03-31T21:53:00.000-07:002010-04-01T09:18:26.753-07:00March MadnessAs a past Board Member of International Housewares Representative Association Board (IHRA). Barbara Segal always attends The Housewares Show in Chicago. It was great meeting up with Manufacturer friends, watching celebrity Chef aka Paula Deen, Mario Batali, and Todd English. Social Media and Twitter were very much alive at the Housewares show, and they had a blogger room with Manufacturer Press Releases, Snacks and was equal to any Press Rooms. BSA twittered under three accounts the whole show, and Blogges were treated with respect and interest from most large Manufactures. The Housewares Show was alive with tweetpics which honestly sent you and others to some of the amazing connection of Twitter.

Barbara then flew to NYC to attended The Architectural Digest Design Show . I attended as To The Trade. As a supporter of DiFFA for years I also attended the Diffa NYC Designing By Design. Thanks to Twitter I won two tickets see post. She invited a non trade friend to attend with the show with the winning tickets. Again Twitter was alive and they had a Blogger/Twitter Connect Booth Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. The women in these booths I had not met personally before but they felt like old friends, because we tweet.

March has been a great busy month of Travel, meeting up with established Manufacturer relationships and meeting new potential clients. My long standing relationships were met face to face, at cocktails at Natuzzi Soho I saw an old business friend from years ago, and business dinners. Barbara Segal is on Twitter daily, and has found it to be the most amazing powerful form of connected, branding, and making business happen. On twitter BSA has made new business contacts, including Publishers, Editors, CEO, and Presidents. Twitter helps you build a network then when you due meet, the relationship is more relaxed and friendly. If you would like to know how Barbara Segal and Associates works follow @Babssegal. Barbara Segal & Associates is a writer for several blogs, handles Social Media for several clients through the country. Twitter is 100% branding, communicating, and responding to conversation. If you want to know about a brand look at their follows and followings and follow and review their Tweets, it is an open door and says alot about the quality of the person in the position. Quality not quantity is most important on Twitter.

@Babssegal often twitter dismay at Companies who still do not get Twitter and Social Media. Barbara Segal's Facebook is filled with editors and close business connections/friends. Linkedin is not for my clients, but I am on there loud and clear.

What a great month February was for Barbara Segal and Associates. As the owner of Barbara Segal and Associates I have always been action-oriented, curious, outgoing, and technically gifted. I live for new experiences. I have always been drawn to risk-taking and am not afraid to fail. At the age of 3, I went door to door selling Dandelions in Allentown, PA to the neighbors for a quarter. Even then, I was determined to carry out my idea of making money, by climbing out of the families white picked fenced back yard in my little sun-suit. Today, not much has changed. I am generally restless, and have always chosen a field that offers constant novelty. If you had to name my favorite place, it might be the center of attention as I am a born entertainer, and can easily adapt to any audience.

As a leader, I am often ahead of my time. As an employee, I am incisive and curious, and driven to deeply understand how things work. Last year I worked part time at two large Retailers as I deeply wanted to understand how Big Box retailers think and I needed health insurance. I also also worked tirelessly to make sure the Costume Council at LACMA accomplishments were recognized in Public Relations by Volunteering. All week I worked with my savvy clients at Barbara Segal and Associates clients. The combination of all the above fueled me and my business.

Yes, I came out of the womb an original, artistic and I know it. I am drawn to the arts, anything creative, for that matter—and I have a unique way of looking at the world. As long as I genuinely express myself, I feel like the person I was meant to be. In the advertising and public relations field executives must be highly imaginative. Beyond work, I find opportunities everywhere I look to coax out my inner artist: I love Interior Design, creating innovative blogs, cooking, entertaining, and gardening. And my relationships with people are another avenue for self-expression.

One thing I know for sure is some people lead and others follow. This month I attended a business cocktail party, on a Trumpy Yacht for a Yachting Magazine's Soiree at The Miami International Boat Show. While mingling, I got into a conversation about Social Media and Twitter. The best way to give you the headlines on the conversation is, "they did not get Twitter nor did they WANT to get it." However thanks to my worldly travels, summers in Newport, past clients in the Yachting Industry, Publishing background, and former main street Annapolis, MD business owner. Valuable business connections were made. Yes, I can walk and talk the talk thanks to all my life experiences. The resistance to Social Media reminds me of when I worked in technology in the 80's, when Bill Gates and Steve Jobs were just getting started. This week my friend and Author, Julie Spira put on her Facebook that her Mother did not understand her being a presenter at the 140 conference in New York City that is taking place this April. Her Social Media outreach, I personally found this so humorous and refreshing. I had just experienced working around "the Good Old Boys Club" in Miami at Super Bowl events and then the Miami International Boat Show. As a business women I realize, "the world needs followers."

I love Twitter for business and the new relationships that can be found and formed. This month Susan Blond one of the most powerful forces in media who revolutionize the business by doing business the way an artist makes art. Susan a New York publicist and the owner of entertainment and lifestyle publicity agency and I had Net Etiquette interest in common. She twittered @netetiquette to watch her YouTube Blond Tip:When the check comes. I loved it and twittered back and we became followers. I then discovered, the famous Red Carpet photographer Patrick McMullan I had worked with at LACMA and Susan are friends. Although no face to face has happened, Susan is a mentor to anyone in Public Relations and this new Twitter connection with someone I may have never connect with has fueled my drive! I know life has meaning as long as you feel stimulated. That might mean spending time on Twitter, reading new books, attending workshops, and taking a flight to business opportunities like trade shows or conferences. As a leader you discover who you are meant to be through accumulating insight and knowledge. You follow your curiosity.

Tech Crunch asked the question today Can Entrepreneurs Be Made? Entrepreneurship is about being persistent, stubborn and not afraid of failure. With every Tom, Dick, and Sally claiming to be a Social Media Expert and Public Relations Expert and the unemployment rate near 26-year highs, the focus right now is on jobs. Since 1995, I have been a small business owner. Right now I am a supporter of Move Your Money as our Government has done nothing to help Small Business Owners. As a risk-lover with a lot of energy, I am a natural entrepreneur. I am happiest if I change jobs every so often and travel extensively. Movement is what keeps me going. Obviously I give thanks for my knack of diplomacy, family history, and abundant charisma, that often inspire others!

How are you perceived? In the uncertain times of the 21st Century the Internet makes it possible for everyone to establish a brand. Doctors, Lawyers, Authors, Publishers, Artist, Producers, Directors, Manufactures, Power Moms, Carpenters, Accountants, Realtors, Interior Designers, Architects, Health Care Consultants, Chefs, and the list goes on. Your brand should be strong and memorable to set you apart and to make a positive impression on people you know. If your on Face book your branding yourself. If your on Twitter your branding yourself.

This week Forbes announced the 14 Power Women To Follow On Twitter. "These "twilebrities" are constructing digital empires by building brands from the ground up. They are not only experts, but also extraordinarily engaging, hard working, interactive and responsive to their communities." states Samantha Ettus who is a personal branding expert. These women found their niche and capitalizing on it through their work, their writings, their personalities, and Twitter followings. Twitter is now the considered the "plumbing" of Branding and Social Media. Your foundation is laid but the pipes to carry you forward into the 21st century are "exposed".

Juliette Powell's author of, 33 Million People in the Room about how to create, influence and run a Successful Business with Social Networking. Ms. Powell states, "Just being online isn’t enough. You need to get out there and start building bridges with professional organizations, industry organizations, minority-run organizations, woman’s organizations, tech meet-ups, innovation meet-ups, emerging market meet-ups etc. Then follow up with all new contacts via social networks. It is the easiest way to keep your new contacts abreast of your new developments, without having to constantly pester them with newsletters and emails. The more connected you are and are perceived to be, the more visibility you have, that’s a given."

Give people a reason to talk about you in a positive way that also matches your brand. Personal branding serves as career protection in uncertain times. It's also a critical tool for reinventing yourself because you can leverage your reputation by showing the skill set you have. The slide show Brand or Be Brand is an excellent presentation of what lays ahead for us 2010.
Facebook alone has more then 350 Million Members and almost $1 billion in annual sales. Setting up Facebook Fan pages became a cruicial part of branding and social media in 2009. Linkedin became one of the most popular social media web sites of 2009 with the down economy. Many professionals found networking with business relationships and groups online easy, efficient, and friendly thanks to Linkedin. Reconnecting with trusted business relationships became a great asset in 2009. At Barbara Segal and Associates we found 2009 to be a year of:

Barbara Segal and Associates believes that Social Media should be a component of what your business does everyday. If you’re a corporation, small business, or a non-profit that’s not using social media, than you’re doing yourself a disservice. You should be utilizing Social Media as a venue just as you would a press release to reach out to the community and their customer base. This video shows small businesses that have grown by using Tweeter, Facebook, Myspace and other social media as part of your business plan.

Is this a full time job within a business? Absolutely, social media is here to stay! Twitter and Facebook, even e-mail allow you to send people tweets or updates, it takes a professional Public Relations and Marketing person to know the fine balance of not over doing it. Barbara Segal emphasizes, "Hiring an Intern for Social Media is a dangerous position for a company to put itself in." This inexperienced Social Media person may send your business into harassment mode with followers/customers. Finding a balance of how much to tweet, and how quickly to contact your customers is a important part of any marketing strategy. Social media is here to stay, it can produce good results as well as bad results quickly. With review sites like Yelp, word of mouth Twitter, and Facebook, one customer service mistake can quickly viral across the Internet.
The Topic du jour in Brands is their adoption of Social Media. The conversations are high noisy, speculative and theoretical. Social media expert, like Barbara Segal have the answers. Their strategies have proof, of Why? Because they have worked in fashion, Media, and community. At the heart of branding conversations are questions related to community. It’s interesting to see how brands adopt social media while also trying to balance their exclusive appeal with the social masses. Does social media make a brands too accessible and diminish the brand value and perception of affluence?

No, not if implemented correctly. That’s why retailers such as Gucci and Mercedes Benz are creating their own private networks for their most affluent customers or making niche content sites that focus on limited product selection. They are doing this while also marketing to the masses on Twitter and Facebook. As brands move marketing efforts online, they need to focus on creating unique, experiences. Whether the medium is their own communities, or Facebook, brands have to engage their audiences, and they have to do so on a consistent basis.

Hiring an Intern? Lets say you worked your whole life for a red Ferrari, and you now have one. It is a dream car, an asset, and part of a luxury image you keep. The Ferrari serves a very important role in your life. Your 19 year old daughter, comes home from college and wants to go someplace she can impress her friends with Daddy's car. She is a Junior in Harvard, you trust her, you love her, and she is usually responsible. Would you give her the keys to your Ferrari?

Social Media is the new Public Relations and technology of today's Brands. A publicly traded company, can NOT afford to take the chance on Interns- non degreed college kids running their Facebook and Twitter. Here are a few you see running across TweetDeck, "come all my Bit@#es" or twitters saying, "this beer can lid will not pop," at 2am in the morning. Why is that Corporations are not understanding that Social Media is the new Branding and Public Relations of today. Not a temporary position for a Intern who is on-the-job training. Tweets of inexperienced and poor net etiquette can quickly damage a corporate reputation and branding. One social media blow, can cost a company its brand. An Intern on Twitter who is basically a college KID in job training, running Twitter of a Corporate Brand, is asking for corporate mutiny. If you do not believe me, read the Twitters "everyone of them." Recently, I went to a party where they, "Sacrificed an Intern to the Gods" at a Recording Studio in Santa Monica, CA. It was a rather wild party.
Our consulting business is backed with years of corporate experience.

Do not mistake cost for quality. Hiring web building company's who advertise low costs for building your 2.0 web world often turns out to be the most incredibly costly web sites. They charge higher fee's for any additional web work with small hidden cleaver verbiage in their contracts. You seldom build a relationship with one person and work with many different employee's which often runs up time which equals fees. These low cost firms hold your company hostage with access to all pass codes and platforms. It's a sad thing to meet with new clients and hear their stories of horror with con-men run web businesses.

At Barbara Segal & Associates when meeting new clients we point out that your decision to hire a Internet Marketing Expert involves trust, responsibility, and your Brands reputation. You the client should always control all your passwords by being the administrator to your Domains, Hosting Software, and any Technology involving your company. You then assign others to get into the sites by inviting them to be secondary administrators, where they then set up their own passwords. Thus being Administrator you are in control. After all you are entrusting all pass codes to your company domain website, and all your social media sites as well. Too often CEO and small business owners do not realize the importance of control until it is to late and they are held hostage by these web developer con men. The 21st century allows people to filter up questions and with Government.change you can ask question to our newly elected Government and even ask a question that Barack Obama himself might answer. The president-elect Obama already has said he will have a five-day online comment period before signing any non-emergency legislation, so Americans can be part of the process.

Obama's integration of the Internet during his presidential campaign came as Americans increasingly turned to online sources to get election news. As a candidate Barack Obama had four times as many friends as his Republican rival, Sen. John McCain, on MySpace.com. Obama had almost 3 million supporters on Facebook and put together a massive database of e-mail addresses -- some 10 million.

Techno savy Obama announced Sen. Joe Biden as his choice for vice president in a text message to supporters. He's also planning to employ a chief technology officer and has pledged to get true broadband to every community in the country.
At Barbara Segal & Associates, we are happy to learn of these employment opportunities in our new Government and are encouraged that jobs will be created by this new technology.Unknownnoreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-230886383850414476.post-74327084755676240522008-10-23T10:49:00.000-07:002008-10-23T15:02:47.857-07:00Why Switch Your Clients To A New Blog Platform?

Barbara Segal & Associates has been professionally consulting companies in blogging and web sites for years. We suggest to many clients that they start blogging to expand their website.
